Mike Sadowski

Q: Let's start by asking you how old you are, and where did you grow up?
Mike: I'm "30ish" years old, and I grew up here, in the Garden City. Although, I think I just got old and never really grew up!

Q: How long have you been into tattooing?
Mike: I got my start in tattooing young. Like, mid teens or something. I practiced on myself and my friends to get better.

Q: How would you describe your style?
Mike: That's tough, but I get a picture in my head of 80's skateboard graphics, 60's hot rod art with punk and metal albums barfed over top. Mad magazines and cartoons make me smile.

Q: Who influences you, who do you like?
Mike: I haven't bought a tattoo magazine in years, and I don't own a computer, so I haven't seen anything by anyone outside this shop in a long time. It gave me an opportunity to hone my own style as an artist.

Q: You create art as well as flash, can you talk about that?
Mike: Outside the shop, I enjoy customizing the stupidest stuff, and half the time I end up throwing my projects out. I paint things and I draw flash for tattoo ideas... usually hot rod stuff and drunk skulls. You do what you're good at.

Q: Describe the perfect client.
Mike: The perfect customer looks past my ability to make an ass of myself and gives me the credit to handle the task at hand.

Q: Want to talk about your music?
Mike: The "rock star" thing hasn't panned out, so tattooing keeps me from unemployment and homelessness.
